Hampton Court Flower Show

26/07/2010

Windsor, 26 July 2010 – Haulfryn Group, one of the UK’s largest owners of prestigious holiday and residential parks, and Wessex Park and Leisure Homes, one of the largest park home and holiday lodge manufacturers in the country, today announced that they are proud to have been awarded a Merit at the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show. Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, the world’s largest annual flower show, celebrated its 20th anniversary this year and, for the first time in its history, allowed a leisure home to be displayed within the heart of the show. The Wessex Sanctuary stood proudly in its purpose built hardwood decking and architectural garden.

Melanie Driver, the well established landscape garden designer, worked in partnership with Wessex and Haulfryn to design the architectural garden within which the leisure home was positioned. Driver worked closely with James Smith of Architectural stone and tile to produce the stunning garden that helped to win the award.

Rachael Horsley, exhibitor manager, trade stands, Royal Horticultural Society, commented: “If a trade stand exhibitor is awarded a Merit at the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show it is a sign that the company has excelled in the presentation of its trade stand, which means that the assessors could not find any imperfections and the stand was creatively outstanding. The components of Haulfryn and Wessex Homes’ stand all worked effortlessly together; the purple and blue hued garden designed by Melanie Driver resonated perfectly with the superbly furnished Sanctuary Lodge. The beautifully presented red cedar Sanctuary Lodge was extremely popular with visitors and helped immensely in increasing the quality of the trade stands at the 2010 Hampton Court Palace Flower Show.”

Jon Day, managing director, Wessex Park & Leisure Homes, said: “The show gave us the opportunity to bring awareness of our beautiful Sanctuary lodge to a new and very enamoured audience. It was a big success with admiration and compliments from the RHS before the show had even opened. The union with Haulfryn worked extremely well and we all worked hard as a team to provide the best service possible to the many show visitors that visited us.”

Rod Tucker, CEO, Haulfryn Group, said: “We were delighted to work with Wessex at the Hampton Court Flower Show this year. Wessex leisure homes are made to an exacting and luxurious standard and look fantastic when sited in one of our stunning locations in the South of England or North Wales. We are celebrating our 75th Anniversary this year and, with the popularity of the ‘staycation’, we are looking forward to some very exciting times ahead.”

The timeless Sanctuary holiday home is clever in its sheer simplicity, making extensive use of beautiful natural timbers and materials to create an uncluttered air of warmth and understated honest quality. The interior design with its vaulted ceilings blends clean detailing and open plan living with tall windows that ensure the interior is bright and that the outdoors is drawn into the home. The exterior is clean, modern and architectural with the prominent feature being the western Red Cedar which, due to its naturally high resin content, has a life expectancy in excess of 30 years in its untreated state. Cedar wood has its own lovely scent and follows an organic ageing process where it’s warm pink hues silver down over time and blend with the environment.

The RHS
The Royal Horticultural Society is the UK's leading gardening charity dedicated to advancing horticulture and promoting good gardening. Its goal is to help people share a passion for plants, to encourage excellence in horticulture and inspire all those with an interest in gardening. Horticultural science, plant trials, garden advice, education, improvements to its gardens, flower shows and gardening events are all at the forefront of the Society's charitable remit. But as it receives no government funding and members' subscriptions only provide around a quarter of funds needed for its charitable work, it rely on donations, legacies, sponsorship and volunteers to help continue with its vital work.
