Mobile Homes
Park Homes being called Mobile Homes – Why does this happen?
Prospective buyers can encounter confusion and inconsistency in some on the terminology surrounding the Park homes and Holiday Lodge industry. Wessex Park Homes takes pleasure in helping to diffuse some of this confusion and shed some light on terminology and definitions.
So what is a mobile home?
A mobile home is a home that is not permanently fixed to the land on which it is situated. Rather than being built on a building site, it is constructed in a factory setting and then transported to its location of residence. The definition of mobile home covers many types of dwelling from caravans in parks, right through to luxuriously designed holiday lodges and residential park homes including those from Wessex Park Homes.
Traditionally, people have always placed the term “mobile home” in a less luxurious context – therefore the connotations of the word are traditionally ambivalent at best.

At Wessex Park Homes we work extremely hard to manufacture superior, beautifully made homes for the holidaymaker or full time resident. We like to think that our luxurious designs put the meaning of “mobile home” into a positive context.
